Life changes/Moving

New address. Nothing missed.

Moving is a hundred small tasks with deadlines. We count down from your move date so the mail, utilities and paperwork are done before the boxes are.

The checklist, in order

A preview of what we send. Members get each step as a reminder, timed to their dates.

  • 4 weeks outBook the truck or movers, and ask your landlord about the deposit walkthrough.
  • 2 weeks outSchedule internet at the new place. Installs often book 1 to 2 weeks ahead.
  • 10 days outSet up mail forwarding with USPS. You can schedule it up to 3 months early.
  • 1 week outTransfer electric and gas, with service starting the day before you arrive.
  • Move weekPack a first-night box: chargers, sheets, toilet paper, meds, a few tools.
  • First 30 daysUpdate your address with your state DMV, bank, employer and voter registration. Many states set a deadline.

General information, not legal or financial advice. Rules vary by state, so check with the agency involved.
